GROUND:

Your New Ritual to thrive.

To truly grow and thrive, we must first establish solid foundations. Grounding allows us to find clarity, foster connections, and build resilience, shielding us from anxiety, stress, and fear. Engaging in this practice not only helps you anchor yourself but also channels and protects your energy.

It's advised to incorporate this grounding exercise into your morning routine for minimum 3 weeks with the following:

  1. Make sure to disable any social notifications or put your phone on airplane mode over night.

  2. Only use your phone for an alarm if needed and to listen to this meditation. No scrolling!

  3. If you can do not go on your phone for 30-60 minutes after listening to this meditation,

Once you feel ready to move on from this practice you can check out The Portal, for your next rituals and practices.

The Science

When you first wake up, your brain transitions from delta waves, associated with deep sleep, to theta waves, which are characteristic of a dreamy, relaxed state. As you become more alert, your brain then produces alpha waves, a state of calm awareness where you process little information.

If you reach for your phone immediately upon waking, you bypass the crucial theta and alpha stages, launching directly from the delta state into full alertness, known as the beta state.

According to Scientific American, the theta state is conducive to uninhibited thought and creativity, free from self-censorship or guilt. This makes it an excellent opportunity to connect with your subconscious, allowing you to visualize your desires and propel your actions toward realizing your goals.

By staying clear of notifications and phone activity first thing in the morning AND using this meditation you utilize the dreamy space after waking intentionally, support your dopamine levels throughout the rest of the day, and negate the stress of any negative news or messages coming in when you’re in this open receptive state.
